Black Irish Band tunes to echo sounds of bygone eras

The Black Irish Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon and at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Florence Events Center.

Bandon Showcase will present the Black Irish Band, featuring the music of Ireland, Italy and America, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18, at the Sprague Community Theater, 1202 11th St. S.W., in Bandon.

Hailing from the historic gold rush country of America, the Black Irish Band has a musical style as timeless as the rugged landscape of the West, and is a tribute to the people whose lives were spent building the world now taken for granted, according to a press release. The band, which formed 19 years ago, has a large complement of traditional maritime and railroad music, as well as ethnic tunes.

The Black Irish Band has independently produced 18 CDs and has recorded 82 original song ballads, selling 70,000 albums to date.

The concert is sponsored by Cardas Audio, Chetco Federal Credit Union, John Parks Construction and Karen Sinko of Beach Loop Realty.

Tickets cost $20, with all seats reserved and are available at Bandon Mercantile, at the door, or by visiting Bandon Showcase’s Web site at
