Hear The Lonesome Whistle Blow
Railroad Ballads by The Black Irish Band
"Hear That Lonesome Whistle Blow" is a compilation
of railroad songs and introduces four new traditional and two new original songs,
"Dreams of the Yukon" by Patrick Karnahan and "That Train" by Mike
Lee. From stories of hardship and oppression, robbery and adventure to dreams and
reflections, this CD celebrates the American Railroad. All Aboard!
"They came from the dry plains of Africa, the famine-starved shores of
Ireland and the war-torn provinces of China to take part in a Great American Experience.
Lowered in wicker baskets, they set the dynamite throughout the Sierras. In the heat of
the deep south, they toiled with pick and shovel. They braved the freezing temperatures of
the Alaskan winter while laying rail. It is to their memory that this album is
dedicated."
