Jack Douglass Saloon: The Mother Lode!

Updated: Dec 9, 2023

The Jack Douglass Saloon is one of the Black Irish Band’s favorite and frequent haunts. Located smack dab in the middle of historic Columbia State Park, the saloon looks untouched since it was established in 1857, and surrounded as it is by living history, some of the people do too. We always have a hootin’ and hollerin’ good time, the way countless travelers, miners and townsfolk have for nearly 200 years.

When we recently played at the Jack Douglass, we put out a call to our fans to show up in period costume and they did not disappoint! From gold panners to saloon girls, we filled the room, playing traditional instruments fully acoustically, the way it would have been done in 1857. We relived history together, and reminisced about our favorite music video series shot right there in the Jack Douglass.

Keep a weathered eye on the horizon, or even better, subscribe to our email list and we'll let you know the next time we play in Columbia - make it a day trip, walk through historic Columbia town, and then finish off with tunes in an old saloon! Get an authentic sarsaparilla (or something stronger), and come join us next time in this centerpiece of Gold Rush life.
