St. Patrick’s Day weekend was a big one for the Black Irish Band, with four gigs in three days, all across the foothills. Although California had been drenched by rain in recent weeks, on Saturday, those Irish eyes were smiling as the clouds broke and the sun shone through on Murphy’s Irish Days, where Black Irish Band held down the main stage at Murphy’s historic hotel.
Thousands of people turned out for the event, crowding the streets, laughing, dancing, and singing along to Black Irish Band favorites- from traditional tunes such as Whiskey in the Jar and Wild Rover, to original delights, such as Give Us All Your Whiskey and Frisco. Whether the red faces we saw were from the sun, drink, or merriment, we couldn’t say, but a rollicking good time was had by all.
Can you imagine having an Irish event in the California foothills without inviting the Black Irish? We can’t either. For area locals like Patrick and Erich, Murphy’s Irish Days is a particular treat. Come join us next time!
